Q. Who is Centurion Stone?

A.  Centurion stone is the brand of manufactured stone carried by Fraley Masonry. Centurion Stone has provided the construction industry with the highest quality stone products for almost 40 years.  The manufacturing plant is based in Nashville, Tennessee. Centurion undergoes 3rd party testing to confirm it meets and exceeds industry standards.

Q. Who is Fraley Masonry?

A. Fraley Masonry is the exclusive Centurion Stone manufactured (veneered) stone dealer. We also carry Earthworks real stone products and a full line of masonry supplies. We have been the top provider of stone to the Ozarks for over 15 years, offering both wholesale, retail, and installation packages for commercial and residential sectors. Q. Is this real stone?

A. Centurion stone is a manufactured stone designed from molds made from real stone. Our stone has a distinct advantage because it is lighter, less expensive, easier to install than natural stone, and greater availability. Fraley Masonry offers a real stone line called Earthworks for those interested.

Q. How does Centurion Stone compare to the cost of natural stone?

A. Centurion stone can be significantly more affordable than natural stone.  Installation and material for Centurion Stone can cost, on average, $9.00 to $11.00 a square foot.  Real stone averages $15.00 to $22.00 per square foot for labor and material.

Q. What is Centurion Stone made of?

A.  Centurion stone is primarily made of Portland cement and a high tensile shell aggregate. Iron oxide colors are used to create the different shades.

Q. What is the average thickness of Centurion Stone?

A. The thickness can vary between 1 ¼” to 3 ½ ”.  The average thickness is 2”.

Q. Does Centurion Stone require a brick ledge or support ledge?

A. Centurion is lightweight and requires no brick ledge. The stone is applied to a metal lath that is secured on the framed structure. It is perfect for use above the roof line or anywhere weight is a concern. Please see installation instructions for details.

Q. What surfaces can Centurion Stone be applied to?

A. It can be applied to any masonry, concrete structure (including painted or sealed masonry), wood frame, metal frame, or rigid foam insulation. See page 37 of the brochure for detailed diagrams.

Q. How do Centurion Stone costs compare to brick?

A. Stone can be the same price as brick when used in specific areas. In general, stone averages 50% more than brick.

Q. Can Centurion Stone be used for interior and exterior applications?

A. Yes, we have created unique spaces in kitchens, wine cellars, stair wells, bathrooms, and all areas of the home using Centurion Stone inside.  The product is suitable for interior or exterior application. Visit our website, fraleymasonryonline.com, for more ideas on interior use.

Q. What maintenance can I expect with Centurion Stone?

A. Cleaning may never be necessary. If desired, use a solution of granulated soap or detergent and water with a soft bristle brush. Rinse immediately with fresh water.  Do NOT attempt cleaning with a wire brush, high pressure power washer, or acid containing products.

Q. Does Centurion Stone have to be sealed?

A. Sealing Centurion Stone maybe recommended in certain applications but is not necessary In most installations. Sealing may be required in areas where mud could splash onto the stone at grade or on wood burning fire places, where smoke or soot occurs. It is recommended to use a penetrating breathable concrete sealer - silane or siloxane base products. It is recommended to test the sealer on several loose pieces to determine the finished results. Some sealers affect the stones color and may create sheen. Stone must be allowed to cure before sealing.

Q. Is the stone colored all the way through?

A. Yes. Each color is created from a base color and highlighted with individual face colors. Centurion Stone is handmade and may have slightly variations in runs.

Q. How heavy is the stone?

A. Centurion stone weights between 8 to 12 lbs per square foot after installation.

Q. What is the R-value of Centurion Stone? R-value is a measure of thermal resistance.The bigger the number, the better the building insulation’s effectiveness.

A. Centurion stone has an r-value of around 4.5. On average, brick is the same.

Q. How is the stone packaged?

A. The stone is packed into 8 or 12 small boxes that make one large pallet. Centurion vertically stacks the stone, versus piling, to reduce breakage and scuffing. The stone is sold by the small boxes, which range from 10 to 16 square feet per box.

Q. What type of Warranty is offered?

A. Centurion Stone offers a 50 year limited warranty.
